In 2018, Tina Gillihan founded the Basin Dream Center with a powerful mission: to provide a safe and transformative environment for homeless youth in the Permian Basin. As President and CEO, she leads with unwavering dedication to helping young people overcome adversity, offering them shelter and a pathway to stability, education, and hope. Under her leadership, the Basin Dream Center has become a vital resource, offering transitional housing, essential services, life skills training, and mentorship to empower youth to rebuild their lives and pursue their dreams.
Tina’s commitment to service is underscored by her dedication to lifelong learning. She completed her certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership through the Nonprofit Management Center accredited through University of Texas Permian Basin. She is currently pursuing an English degree at Midland College, where she is also close to earning an Associate of Arts in General Studies. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In recognition of her advocacy, Tina received the “Survivor to Thriver” Award from the Midland Victim’s Coalition. As a volunteer, she created and led a support group for survivors of sexual assault at the Midland Rape Crisis Center from 2016 to 2020.
With a deep commitment to community service, Tina has built her career around addressing homelessness at its roots and advocating for sustainable solutions. Leading a team of passionate professionals and volunteers, she remains focused on a vision where every youth served can transition from crisis to self-sufficiency, free from the threat of homelessness. Tina’s dedication to young lives extends into her personal life as well. She is a loving mother of three biological children, and one adopted child from foster care and has fostered many more. A proud grandmother, she cherishes spending time with her grandsons, Nash and Holland. When she’s not engaged in her work, Tina and her husband enjoy relaxing in Florida and pursuing her hobbies of reading, hiking, and kayaking.
