Originally from McCamey, TX, Lavern Montez has dedicated her life to uplifting others, a passion inspired by her parents. Her journey in service began formally in 2008 when she volunteered to support women in domestic violence situations, a role she held for over a decade. Lavern’s involvement with Mission Agape has further allowed her to give back to her community in meaningful ways. In 2016, Lavern was recognized as one of Midland’s “52 Faces” for her contributions. As a Case Manager and Youth Advocate at the Basin Dream Center, Lavern brings a heart for giving, especially for young adults facing challenges like homelessness and trafficking. She is passionate about offering hope and second chances to youth aged 17-26.
A dedicated member of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church and active in the 007 Ladies Ministry, Lavern also advocates for domestic violence awareness, embodying her belief in seeing beyond first impressions to understand each person’s unique story. Lavern is a proud mom, wife, and grandmother with three daughters and six beloved grandchildren.
With a deep commitment to community service, Tina has built her career around addressing homelessness at its roots and advocating for sustainable solutions. Leading a team of passionate professionals and volunteers, she remains focused on a vision where every youth served can transition from crisis to self-sufficiency, free from the threat of homelessness. Tina’s dedication to young lives extends into her personal life as well. She is a loving mother of three biological children, and one adopted child from foster care and has fostered many more. A proud grandmother, she cherishes spending time with her grandsons, Nash and Holland. When she’s not engaged in her work, Tina and her husband enjoy relaxing in Florida and pursuing her hobbies of reading, hiking, and kayaking.
